The Spring is flying by in first grade. I am so grateful to have been in person with all these adorable children all year. We cannot believe that there is less than 30 days of school left.

In math, we have learned many new concepts. We have completed units on fractions, time, and all the addition math facts to ten. We are now working on money and subtraction facts. The children have enjoyed learning new concepts and I am very pleased with their math fact fluency. They all know their addition math facts and can do them in under a minute.. impressive little math stars!

In phonics, we are working on reading and writing long vowel words.  The long vowel sounds can be difficult for the children to master, but they are doing a good job. I cannot believe how AWESOME these children are with their trick words. They will definitely be going to second grade with having mastered all the first grade trick words! I have been reminding them that when they are writing a story in their journals they need to remember to apply their trick word knowledge,

In Religion, the children were very interested in talking about the Stations of the Cross and the Resurrection  of Jesus at Easter time.  We are now focusing the month of May on Mary. We will be learning how to pray the rosary and getting our own rosary beads will be very exciting!

The Boosterthon was so fun! Thank you all so much for your support. Our class dd amazing and met our goals so we will be walking to the park and having a  picnic lunch at school in the next few weeks!
