A Short..but FUN Week!

We have been discussing the five senses in science and it was time to put our learning into action!  Today, we boarded a big yellow school bus and headed to Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary in Sharon. We were met by Moose Hill counselors and divided into three groups.  We then set off on a journey to explore the natural world.  We used our five senses just like animals in the wild.  The students followed a scent trail just like a fox.  We used different eyes to see like a hawk or a bee.  Those eyes were binoculars, compound eyes, magnifying glasses, and more.  It was a beautiful day and we ended the trip by playing on the lovely new Moose Hill natural playground.  We hope you enjoy the group picture. There is also a lot posted on the FB page!

In Math, we just finished the Unit 2 chapter. The children did a good job using cubes and picture drawings to show subtraction problems can be solved. Their assessments are in their red folder.

In Phonics, In phonics, we continued working with digraphs.Students practiced reading and spelling words containing digraphs, with much focus this week on the digraph "ck." Students learned that we now know three ways to make the /k/ sound: c, k, ck. They learned that "ck" is used at the end of a word following the short vowel.  They did awesome on their assessments, they are also in their red folders.

Reminders- Please email a time you would like to conference with me, it will be great meeting with all of you!
