Map Testing-
The children did well on their MAP testing this week. We use the information as a way to tell overall areas of strength and weakness as well as individual areas where students may need a little more reinforcement in a certain skill area.
Phonics-
We have done most of the alphabet sounds and the letter formation on each letter. I am impressed that these kids know all of their sounds and are doing well with their CVC words. A CVC word is a word that has a consonant, vowel, consonant. If you have time to practice writing these words it always help when they is home support and practice.

Trick Words
Knowing and practicing the trick words os a HUGE part of first grade. These words are tricky, but we will be trick word stars by June I promise!

Math Facts- We are going to take another week with the plus 1's and 2's table. Next week will be do both each night, we need a little more practice with them
Science Experiment of the Week
Today we had a lot of fun in science class. We discussed and saw with our own eyes how when you mix baking sad and vinegar you making a gas called carbon dioxide. The kids LOVED it! Thank you all for sending in the supplies that makes Friday science so fun!
