Our week and a look ahead at Catholic Schools Week

Phonics
This week in phonics, students learned how to add the suffix s to words containing the new word. For example: banks, rings, thinks. It is very important for students to form the habit of isolating the baseword and then adding on the suffix ending. Students will build upon this skill in the Wilson Fundations Program. Students also continued to practice our new trick words: very, also, too, some, come. We also spent time discussing the homophone: to, two, too

Guided Reading Groups- I am so proud of how well these kids are reading. There is nothing better than to watch these children grow into young readers who love and enjoy books! We have been working in small groups on our leveled books and then following up with a writing activity.

This week in math, we continued to work on skip counting and becoming familiar with the hundred chart. Students have also been working on showing how addition and subtraction sentences are related. For example- 3+4=7   7-4+3
Keep practicing those math facts, the children are doing AWESOME!

MAP TESTING- Next week We will have Map Testing on Tuesday and Wednesday...Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast and gets to bed early after the long weekend

Classroom Items-
*It is that time of year to ask your child if they need crayons, markers or other things for their art box. Many are out of supplies and could use more for our fun projects

* Day 100 will be on February 24th, we are getting fun things planned. Please send in a white t-shirt.. and if you happen to have an fabric markers at our house we would LOVE to use them
