 Phonics

This week in phonics, students learned how to add the suffix s to words containing the new word. For example: banks, rings, thinks. It is very important for students to form the habit of isolating the baseword and then adding on the suffix ending. Students will build upon this skill in the Wilson Fundations Program. Students also continued to practice our new trick words: would, could, should, some, come. We also spent time discussing the homophone: to, two, too.  In their homework folders today is the Pink Dress, it is a good story for your child to practice their reading fluency.

Math

This week in math, we continued to work on skip counting and becoming familiar with the hundred chart. Students have also been working on showing how addition and subtraction sentences are related. For example- 3+4=7   7-4+3. We will be doing a mix of addition facts starting next week, then we will start on  our subtraction facts
Keep practicing those math facts, the children are doing AWESOME!

Religion-  Deacon Joe has been doing a great job with this weekly lessons in the church with the kids.  Tuesday his lesson was focused on David and Goliath. His lesson was that each child had a talent from God and it was their job to really find that talent and use it everyday. We also listened to a great while taking some time to sit still pray and reflect on how luck we all are. The children are so well behaved in Church, they really enjoy this time.

MAP TESTING- Next week We will have Map Testing on Tuesday and  Thursday...Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast and gets to bed early after the weekend.
