Another Great week in 1b

 In Phonics, we continued working with digraphs.Students practiced reading and spelling words containing digraphs, with much focus this week on the digraph "ck." Students learned that we now know three ways to make the /k/ sound: c, k, ck. They learned that "ck" is used at the end of a word following the short vowel.  They also learned t, sh, wh, and ch. They did a great job on their trick word test today.Next week we will do 25 words as a review of all the trick words we have learned so far in first grade. The children have loved using their magnetic boards as a way to practice their short vowel words and sounds. 

The BOB books which you can order on Amazon are amazing books to help your child become 

fluent and confident readers. I love seeing the reading progress each child is making. 

The lunch program has been a HUGE hit! The kids are so excited when the delivery comes to the door each day. You can sign up on the week before if you want your child to buy.

 

Our class has the BEST REMOTE LEARNER at BSS. Thank you Brinley for your attention, cooperation and hard work each day. The only problem is they all FIGHT about who 

will eat snack with you! 

           We really enjoyed our first school Mass with Bishop Reed on live TV. The children did a wonderful job learning about the Mass and praying along with him.
